A Presentation of GRETRO in English

Our store is called GRETRO and is located in Malmö, Sweden. GRETRO was founded in 2013 by the Jansäter family.

It all started when our son Gustav launched an online shop in the spring of 2013, encouraged by his sisters Emelie and Louise. Since then, we have continued to grow our online presence, now hosted on the Shopify platform, alongside our physical store in central Malmö, which spans about 165 square meters, plus an additional warehouse of almost the same size. Annie Sloan's full range of products currently takes up approximately 80 square meters in our store.

The name GRETRO comes from "G" for Gustav, but also "G" for Greta.
But in truth, the story began long before that. Our grandmother Greta and grandfather Nils used to travel to the flea markets of France during the 1940s, ’50s, and ’60s, returning with furniture that was lovingly restored and painted. This passion for vintage furniture and craftsmanship has been passed down through the generations and lives on in our entire family today.

Every product we sell has its own unique story—just like Annie’s paint.
We sell vintage items and furniture that others may have grown tired of, but which can add personal character and warmth to a new home in a way that mass-produced items simply cannot. That’s why we’ve proudly been selling the environmentally friendly Chalk Paint™ by Annie Sloan for the past six years.

Our focus is on helping customers care for their furniture and easily refresh their homes in an affordable and sustainable way. We inspire our visitors by showcasing painted furniture and demonstrating the use of Chalk Paint™ when they visit our store.

A Retrospective E-shop and Store
Anders restores furniture or teaches our customers how to do it themselves, together with Pia, who guides them in how to decorate their homes or offices with color and design. I personally help customers find the perfect Chalk Paint™ shades for furniture, walls, and ceilings.

Our popular workshops provide plenty of inspiration and cover topics like interior design, color theory, and more. We also occasionally host painting meet-ups with influencers. Pia and Anders both run courses in interior styling, furniture restoration, painting techniques, lampshade making, and more.

We feel it’s time to take the next step.
We’ve continually expanded our business—into a larger space, through trade fairs to spread knowledge, with numerous talks about Chalk Paint™, more workshops, and increased turnover. The next step is to embody Annie Sloan’s brand values on a deeper level, helping to promote her aesthetic and vision.
